I just read your story “A Day in the Bar Ditch of Democracy USA” at truthout.org with interest and, in addition to thanking you, wanted to pass on some useless info.
The term “bar ditch” is the Texas country dialect version of “borrow ditch”, which is the ditch created when dirt from the sides of a road right-of-way is “borrowed” to build up the center of the roadway. Take it from an old hand born in Texas 69 years ago tomorrow, but living in Maryland for the past 40 years.
Keep up the good work.

I read your story of the march in Crawford and want to thank you for a powerful report. Ms. Sheehan is a true hero of this horrible war, and Michael Young is equally courageous to stand against the greed and lies of Bush & Co.

I don’t know who you are,but I thank God for people like you.I am a 62 yr. old grandmother and I remember Vietnam, and I don’t want to see that again.I weep for the families that have lost children in a war based on lies and greed.Keep up the fight!

I wish you anti-Americans would stop giving these America hating Commies publicity. Every time you do, we patriots lives are more in danger because you incite, antagonize and encourage the terrorists. Why are you willing to sacrifice your self respect for the DNC and their corrupt, crooked leaders?

Editor’s Reply: My dear fellow American, on the question of peace and patriotism, please consult the Index of Historical Sources at Nonviolence USA, where you will find the work of Cindy Sheehan placed in a broad context of American Dreams. As for DNC leadership, I don’t think you’ll find any listed among true heroes of American nonviolence, but I will take your suggestion under consideration.
